Paul Rusesabagina, the Rwandan hero whose efforts to save hundreds of his countrymen from genocide were turned into the Oscar-nominated film, Hotel Rwanda, has been implicated by the ruling Rwandan government with funding terrorism activities, according to Reuters. Opposition leader Victoire Ingabire was arrested on Oct. 14 for terrorism activities, and the government claims Rusesabagina helped finance her group’s actions. Ingabire denies the charges against her and claims the accusations are politically based. Rusesabagina, who was played by Don Cheadle in the 2004 film, currently resides in the United States.
