Despite being sentenced today to 12 months in prison for perjury and false statements, John McTiernan, who will remain free on bail during an appeal process, remains slated to direct Shrapnel, an action film about two war veterans who end up hunting each other for sport. “He’s [still] the director of the film,” says the film’s producer Anthony Rhulen (The Butterfly Effect). “I’m told that his appeal process will allow plenty of time to get this made.” A finished script is expected next week, according to Rhulen, and production could begin soon after the new year.
