Kid Cudi avoids jail time in drug case: UPDATED
Image Credit: Nabil ElderkinKid Cudi‘s alleged drug possession case has been resolved. (SEE UPDATE BELOW.) The “Day ‘n’ Nite” rapper must perform two days of community service according to a courtroom deal. If he avoids further legal trouble for the next six months, his case will be officially dismissed.
Cudi was arrested in June after police responded to a reported disturbance involving him and an unidentified woman; he was originally charged with criminal mischief and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, both misdemeanors to which he pleaded not guilty. He was not physically present at the courtroom when the deal was made through his lawyers on Friday. His reps did not immediately respond to EW’s request for comment.
SEPT. 28 UPDATE: Contrary to earlier reports, Kid Cudi did not enter a guilty plea in this case, his attorney tells EW. His criminal mischief charge was dismissed outright; the possession charge is pending dismissal in six months if he stays out of trouble and performs two days of community service. No admission of guilt is implied by this resolution. A spokesperson for the Manhattan district attorney’s office now confirms that this is the case.
Kid Cudi’s sophomore album, Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager, is due later this year.
