For the last 60 years or so, Mickey Mouse has mostly existed as the helium-voiced, fully-clothed straight man of the Disneyverse. But life is nothing without gritty reboots. Hence, Disney Epic Mickey, the upcoming Wii videogame that simultaneously returns Mickey to his roots — he’s back in red shorts — while also sending him into an elaborate cartoon meta-dystopia populated by forgotten Disney characters. Besides an intriguingly gonzo premise, Epic Mickey brings with it the cachet of designer Warren Spector (Deus Ex). EW has an exclusive trailerfor Mickey, which releases Nov. 30:

Simply because my inner six-year-old is screaming, I’m stoked about Mickey, but I’ll be intrigued to see how the “brush” system (you can either create or destroy objects in your path) works out with the Wii’s motion control.

What do you think, PopWatchers?
