This adaptation of Robert Kirkland’s long-running comic book follows a band of folks — including Andrew Lincoln, Jeffrey DeMunn, and Sarah Wayne Callies — as they attempt to survive in a world where the dead have come back to life and, as usual, are peckish. ”It is a series of adventures through the zombie apocalypse,” says Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption), who created the show and helmed the 90-minute pilot. ”But because the material we’re adapting is so character-based, it’s as much about that as it is about the zombies.” Don’t panic, horror fans: This character piece is not short of characters in pieces. ”There was one scene where I was trying to escape from hordes of zombies, with intestines wrapped around my neck like a cravat,” says British actor Lincoln, who starred in 2003’s zombie-free rom-com Love Actually. ”It beggared belief.” OCT. 31
