Chase may follow a team of U.S. marshals tracking criminals of the week, but the series’ creator, Jennifer Johnson, would prefer that viewers not think of it as a procedural. Unlike most cop shows where you spend the episode trying to figure out who the bad guy is, on Chase ”you know in the first or second scene who did it,” explains Johnson. ”So the clues we’re putting together are not DNA and footprints and fingerprints — we’re putting together the DNA of a fugitive.” Playing team leader Annie Frost came quite easily for star Kelli Giddish (Past Life), particularly the gunplay. ”I grew up in Georgia, so I’ve had a gun in my hand before,” says Giddish, adding, ”I remember doing the pilot and coming home and missing my Glock.” SEPT. 20
