Singer Faith Evans was arrested Aug. 21 in L.A. for alleged DUI, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson confirms to EW. According to the LAPD, Evans was arrested at a sobriety checkpoint at 10:40 P.M. last night, booked, and released this morning after spending the evening in jail.
“I’m sure some of you heard that I was arrested last night for suspicion of a DUI,” Evans wrote today in a statement addressed to her fans and provided to EW via email. “I was @ the salon trying on wigs and hair pieces (hence the cornrows)…just chilling…and was stopped at a checkpoint…everyone who turned down this one street was pulled over and taken to jail. I’m fine and well, and looking forward to hearing from you guys on how you like my new single.”
