STARRING Jennifer Aniston, Jason Bateman, Patrick Wilson, Juliette Lewis, and Thomas Robinson
DIRECTED BY Josh Gordon & Will Speck

Wally (Jason Bateman) is beside himself when his best friend, Kassie (Jennifer Aniston), decides to be artificially inseminated by someone other than him, so he drunkenly switches her chosen donor’s sperm with his own. If you think that sounds awkward, it’s nothing compared with what codirectors Josh Gordon and Will Speck (who also codirected 2007’s figure-skating comedy Blades of Glory) experienced behind the scenes, spending ”30 minutes with the art department deciding what actually looked like sperm,” says Speck.

Complicating things even more? No sooner does Wally realize that he’s in love with Kassie than she moves from New York City to Minnesota — only to return seven years later with a son, Sebastian (Thomas Robinson), who bears more than a passing resemblance to Wally. Bateman, a longtime pal of Aniston’s who’s even vacationed with her, says it wasn’t a big deal to play romantic scenes opposite the actress in the PG-13 film. ”I make out with most of my friends,” jokes the actor, who last appeared with her in 2006’s The Break-Up. ”It wasn’t much of a change for me. Me and my friends love to share our affections for each other — physically, mentally, it doesn’t matter. It’s 2010 and I live in Los Angeles. Everybody’s touching out here. Fluids are getting swapped.” Well, they certainly are in this flick.
