You work a lot. What interested you about this particular film?
It’s safe to say that every character you play is one you haven’t played before. At least that’s what you hope. But that’s not what interested me in this movie. What interested me was No. 1, a job, and No. 2, a job with that particular cast. I really am in love with Helen Mirren. And I like Bruce Willis an awful lot. This will be our third movie together. We were in Bonfire of the Vanities and we did Lucky Number Slevin together.
Why do you love Helen Mirren?
I met her quite a while back and I’ve admired her greatly. She’s one of the sexiest women ever.
She sure looks sexy when she’s behind that big machine gun.
[Laughs] She was having fun, I’m going to tell you that.
Now that you’ve played Nelson Mandela and God — twice — are there any other roles out there that you’re dying to play?
I don’t know. Whatever comes down the pike. I don’t have anything laying out there that I feel, ”Oh, I just gotta do this.”
What’s next for you?
I don’t have a next yet. So if you hear of anything, give me a heads-up.
