'Glee' creator Ryan Murphy confirms Jane Lynch's 'SNL' hosting gig. (It was news to her!)
Image Credit: Kevin Winter/Getty ImagesThough NBC will still not officially confirm Jane Lynch’s Saturday Night Live hosting gig October 9, Glee creator Ryan Murphy told the Hollywood Reporter at Tuesday’s Eat, Pray, Love premiere in NYC that he had a heavy hand in orchestrating this epic cheerleading routine of a schedule shift. “Saturday Night Live called to say, ‘Would you give us Jane for a week in October?'” explained Murphy. “We just don’t do that, but for Lorne Michaels, I said yes.”
Murphy then sent a text message to an unsuspecting Lynch, who was probably practicing sultry Madonna poses in an ornate brass mirror. “I said, ‘Lady, you’re doing Saturday Night Live,” Murphy said. “And she literally wrote back, ‘What are you talking about?'” EW is trying to confirm that Jane Lynch then stole away to his home and punched him in the face for being so sneaky. Story pending. PopWatch investigates!
Lynch topped this week’s EW.com photo gallery of 15 funny people we hope will be in line for a Saturday Night Live hosting gig. Click through those and tell us who we missed — Justin Timberlake? Carol Burnett? Denzel Washington? — and let us know what you’re anticipating from Lynch’s episode. I’m thinking in addition to a Best In Show reunion, we’re gonna need a reprise to Lynch’s series of “Stalking Tony the Tiger” Frosted Flakes commercials…which were directed by Christopher Guest! Watch one after the break!
