Based on the former life of one of its own producers, Middle Men stars Luke Wilson as Jack, a family guy who gets rich on late-1990s Internet porn. (His specialty is unsexy credit-card billing systems.) So perhaps it’s inevitable that this cranked-up drama wants it both ways. On the one hand, the movie revels in the world of skeevy Web entrepreneurs and the mobsters who demand a cut of the action. On the other, Jack comes out smelling like — well, maybe not like a rose, but certainly like a guy who anticipates his next career as a legit Hollywood producer. C+
