According to People, the Los Angeles County Coroner has determined that Simon Monjack — the British screenwriter who died five months after his wife, Brittany Murphy — died of the same two causes as the late actress: acute pneumonia and severe anemia. The Coroner’s office also revealed that prescription drugs were found in Monjack’s body, but not at lethal levels. Monjack was found dead in May at the same Hollywood home where Murphy died last December.
