In the race to be the coolest person on the planet, Jane Lynch is racking up another 150 points — and pulling away from the pack — by hosting the 2010 Do Something Awards this Monday night on VH1. The show, which will feature performances by Lifehouse, Natasha Bedingfield, and Travie McCoy with Bruno Mars, honors young people, celebrities, and organizations who work toward social change in their communities and beyond; at the end of the telecast, one of five nominees (listed below) will win a $100,000 grant to help them continue these charitable works. (Still, I sincerely doubt any of ’em can match Jane’s “literacy program for babies and smart animals.”) Anyhow, I figure that by writing this here blog item, I’ve already “done something” worthwhile myself. You can do your part by pressing play on the “tight piece of A-list” embedded below, then voting in 11 key categories at DoSomething.VH1.com. Trust me, it’ll be just as much fun as watching Macy Gray’s 1999 video for “Do Something,” only with 10 times the social benefit!
