Zac Efron is clearly in the process of making the transition into actor-adulthood, and not just because he’s shed his proto-Bieber haircut and bared his envy-inducing torso on the cover of People. In the spirit of “If you want something done right…,” Efron has started up his own production company under Warner Bros.’ aegis, now with the admittedly not-so-mature name Ninjas Runnin’ Wild Prods. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the company is set to produce a spate of genre-spanning films starring Efron, including an untitled workplace comedy by 17 Again writer Jason Filardi, the action-thriller Fire, a time-travel film called Einstein Theory, a remake of the Swedish film Snabba Cash, and a based-on-a-true-story heist flick Art of the Steal.

I think it’s smart of Efron to be making his own opportunities after graduating with honors from High School Musical. He has decent acting chops (especially evident in Me and Orson Welles), and the upcoming Charlie St. Cloud will test whether he’s truly able to open a movie by himself. At least this way he can personally manage what future roles he gets offered, and, judging by the list above, he’s definitely trying to diversify his portfolio. What do you think, PopWatchers? Does Efron have a bright future on the A-list, or perhaps the A-minus-list? Which of those in-development projects sounds the most promising to you? Vote in our poll below!
