I think we were all shocked by the news that afternoon last summer. Some of us felt Michael’s loss more deeply than we expected to. And though his peak years of activity were well behind him by then, it’s still a little strange to think that the world of Pop has kept on turning for another 12 months without its King.

So when Friday comes, I know I’ll be listening to Michael Jackson’s music and thinking all over again about his life and significance. It almost feels like a holiday of sorts, an opportunity to celebrate, mourn, or reconsider one of the most important figures in 20th century pop culture. Will you be observing the anniversary of Michael Jackson’s passing in any particular ways? Share your plans with us in the comments below.
