STARRING Katherine Heigl, Ashton Kutcher, Catherine O’Hara
WRITTEN BY Bob DeRosa and Ted Griffin
DIRECTED BY Robert Luketic
You may recall that last March, extreme tweeter Ashton Kutcher posted a video of himself getting his chest waxed in France. Pourquoi? His stunt double on Killers had already transformed his own pecs into hairless wonders, so Kutcher had no choice but to follow suit. ”That bastard!” the actor says jokingly. ”That was unpleasant.”
But at least he got to show off his buffed (and buff) chest on screen. Kutcher, who plays a government assassin, appears shirtless plenty in Killers — including when he first meets a recently single gal (Katherine Heigl) on vacation with her parents in the south of France. They fall in love and get married, and he retires, though he’s never actually told his wife about his license to kill. When some bad apples from his past turn up, director Robert Luketic explains, ”she becomes an accomplice. They go on the lam together.”
Luketic, who directed Heigl in last summer’s The Ugly Truth, compares Killers to the 1984 hit Romancing the Stone. ”It’s got action and romance,” he says. ”We have this incredible scene where Ashton cuts Katie’s dress off with a knife. It’s actually sexy and sweet.” And so much less painful than waxing.
