Ted Koppel's son dead after drinking binge
The son of CBS news anchor Ted Koppel was found dead in a Manhattan apartment early Monday morning after a day of drinking, the AP reports. According to a law enforcement official, Andrew Koppel, 40, had been drinking heavily with a man he met at a bar, Russell Wimberly. Koppel was drinking whiskey and Wimberly told the NY Post that neither had eaten all day. When the two went back to the apartment owned by Wimberly’s friend, Koppel was found not breathing and Wimberly called 911. An autopsy was performed yesterday but results are still pending. No evidence so far indicates criminality.
