We knew Rihanna was familiar with the drums. But in her latest video, “Rockstar 101,” the good girl gone bad goes Slash. Whipping out a top hat, a vintage pair of black sunglasses, and of course a guitar, Rihanna does her best impersonation of the Guns N’ Roses’ axeman—who is featured on the single.

This video is a hard left turn from her playful last single, “Rude Boy.” The black and white clip is goth chic, still living up to Rihanna’s fashion icon standards. Just grimier. She starts out playing with a garage band (look out for Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker) wearing a bathing suit made of chains. In other shot, she slips into a sexy cat outfit and crawls through a snowy forest.

Melina Matsoukas directed this clip. She also handled Rihanna’s last two singles, “Rude Boy” and “Hard.” Matsoukas has an incredible ability to bring songs to life with her edgy visuals. This video proves their partnership is a consistent winner. Check out the video after the jump.

Let us know what you think about Rihanna’s “Rockstar 101.” Would you let her in your band?
