'Nowhere Boy' trailer nails Lennon-McCartney genesis
Aaron Johnson of Kick-Ass doesn’t resemble a young John Lennon in the slightest, but that doesn’t prevent the hairs from standing on the back of my neck when Johnson shakes hands with Thomas Sangster’s Paul McCartney for the first time in the new trailer for Nowhere Boy.
Is there a more momentous meeting in pop music history? John and Paul met at ages 17 and 15, respectively, and their relationship eventually made the Beatles arguably bigger than Jesus. Here’s hoping this film — currently more notable for Johnson’s relationship with its 43-year-old director, Sam Taylor Wood — captures the spirit and friendship of two boys who discover their destinies in rock music.
And if you still racking your brain trying to determine why Sangster looks so familiar…Love, Actually. You’re welcome.
