'Spider-Man' musical may see the light of day after all

Broadway’s Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark musical has been the punching bag of the theater world for the past couple of years, as the production has bounded from delay to delay. Two months ago, Evan Rachel Wood, who was set to star, dropped out of her role as Mary Jane. Then just a few weeks ago, The Good Wife star Alan Cumming made his exit as the Green Goblin, leaving just little-known Reeve Carney, who’s set to portray Spider-Man, in the mix. All that, and the show hadn’t even neared rehearsals yet!

But there is potentially good news for the future of the show on the horizon: New York Post theater columnist Michael Riedel is reporting that the in-question production is indeed on, with rehearsals starting this summer, previews beginning in October, and an official opening in November. The column also claims that the production has a new Green Goblin in Patrick Page, and producers are apparently seeing potential Mary Jane replacements. Producers for the show, and its publicity team, have not made any official announcements.
