The road to Spanglish stardom may have been paved by Shakira and her truth-telling, she-wolfing hips, but that doesn’t guarantee easy passage for Costa Rican songstress Debi Nova (though she has already worked with Ricky Martin and the Black Eyed Peas). On Luna Nueva, vivacious lead single ”Drummer Boy” pulses with the kind of slinky Latin heat that crossover-pop dreams are made of?; the too-modest rest, alas, offers more smoke than fuego. C+
