Chris Pine in early negotiations for spy comedy 'This Means War' at Fox
Star Trek’s newest Captain Kirk has been on top of everyone’s list for leading man since his starring role in last summer’s hit. Now it looks like Fox is going to nab Chris Pine for the starring role in their buddy comedy This Means War. The movie, to be helmed by McG, has been scrambling to find its star after Bradley Cooper dropped out in February. If Pine, who recently received the offer, takes the role, he will play opposite Reese Witherspoon in the comedy that pits two spying best friends against each other when they both fall for the same woman (Witherspoon). The studio is still trying to find Pine’s sparring buddy for the film.
This Means War has been in development for over a decade at Fox. The studio purchased it back in 1998 and the most recent draft is from Role Models scribe Timothy Dowling. The studio still plans to get the movie into production in July.
