Image Credit: M Van Niedek/PR PhotosNBC has confirmed that Jimmy Fallon will host the Emmys on Aug. 29. The Peacock obviously wanted to promote one of its own talents, and as I argued when Fallon’s name was mentioned on the shortlist, I think it makes the most sense: He appeals to a young audience, has a Twitter stream that he can use to promote the awards, and has already proven he can parody Lost and Glee (with Late and 6-Bee), not to mention Kate Gosselin. Do you agree?

Once you weigh in, accept he’s your host and help him out. What bits would you like to see Fallon bring to the Emmys? I think Late and 6-Bee are givens. I stand behind my previously pitched sketches: an opening bit parodying Date Night in which 30 Rock‘s Tina Fey and The Office‘s Steve Carell are mistaken as the hosts of the Emmys and are being chased, a Soup-style segment from Community‘s Joel McHale, and a remote report from Parks and Recreation‘s Amy Poehler, who’s due to deliver her second child days before the telecast.
