Ignore the story of Paper Man, a contrived hodgepodge of circumstances involving a failed novelist (Jeff Daniels), his successful surgeon wife (Lisa Kudrow), an imaginary superhero who has lived in the writer’s head since childhood (Ryan Reynolds), and a lively-but-sad local girl (Emma Stone). Concentrate instead on the delightful performances. A thespian shoutout goes to Reynolds (his hair bleached bright yellow for the gig) for his jaunty way with a cape, tights, and the hands-on-hip poses of superherodom. B-
