The lyrics for the 1967 Beatles song “A Day in the Life”, handwritten by John Lennon, will be sold to the highest bidder by Sotheby’s New York in June, according to a press release from the auction house. The double-sided sheet of paper, on which Lennon wrote the lyrics along with several corrections in different colors of ink, is expected to fetch between $500,000 and $700,000 when it’s put on the block on June 18. Released on the Beatles’ iconic 1967 album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, “A Day in the Life” earned notoriety after the BBC banned it over the controversial lyric “I’d love to turn you on.”
