DIRECTED BY Thomas Balmès

French documentarian (and father of three) Thomas Balmès captured everything from the first gasp of air to the first triumphant steps of four babies from vastly different cultures around the world. There is no denying the awww factor of his subjects, who hail from Namibia, Mongolia, Japan, and the U.S. (San Francisco, to be exact). But Balmès hopes audiences will be enthralled on a deeper level as well. ”This is a film about life more than just about babies,” he says. ”It’s about living on the planet Earth and what it means to be born in our time.”
