After Wallace’s 2008 suicide, Rolling Stone ran a tribute by Lipsky, which went on to win a National Magazine Award. Now comes this book, the transcript of a road trip Lipsky took with the author in 1996. The men debate issues both weighty (the virtues of writing fiction) and mundane (Coke versus Pepsi). Wallace’s publisher, Little, Brown, has more in store for fans: They just released an e-book app for reading the endnotes to Infinite Jest. And they’ll publish Wallace’s final novel, The Pale King, on April 15, 2011.
