Image Credit: Tony Lowe/PR Photos24 is bringing in a TV veteran to help save Jack’s latest (and now it looks like last) bad day: Eriq La Salle has signed on to appear in this season’s final two episodes, sources confirm to me exclusively.

The former ER doc will play the charming and regal UN Secretary General.

Fox has yet to announce whether 24 will end its eight-season run this May, but that didn’t stop producers from attaching the following advisory to the casting call for the secretary general role: “These are the final episodes, so if some of your name people would like to do something on the show, this is the time for them to do it.”

It looks like La Salle’s reps heeded that call.

Of course, even if Fox does decide to end 24, there’s still a chance (albeit a slim one) that NBC could swoop in and save the day. (Additional reporting by Lynette Rice)
