She’s back. Diablo Cody, the screenwriter that took the movie world by storm in 2007 with her irreverent teenage pregnancy dramedy Juno, is returning to the big screen with her producers on Juno for a new script called Young Adult. The new script’s plot is being kept under wraps, though producers Mandate Pictures call it a “comedy with a strong dramatic backbone.” Cody will produce the film along with Mandate Pictures, Mason Novick and Lianne Halfon and Russell Smith of Mr. Mudd Productions.

Mandate has the project on a fast track. Perhaps it will be her priority over the other two projects she’s developing, the comedy-horror film Breathers: A Zombie’s Lament and the film adaptation of the ’80s book series Sweet Valley High.

Cody’s last film project was 2009’s Megan Fox-Amanda Seyfried-starrer Jennifer’s Body. She also writes and produces The United States of Tara, which just started its second season on Showtime.
