In The Thorn in the Heart (L’Epine dans le Coeur), we meet the secret behind French filmmaker Michel Gondry’s bizarre worldview: His bizarre schoolteacher aunt, Suzette. As you’ll see in the trailer after the jump, Suzette really can make her students partially invisible — it wasn’t just an editing trick in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind! France is CRAZY. She is a magical muse indeed, though her powers may have also produced nervous breakdowns and a world of pain for her son, Jean-Yves. This seems like a fascinating home-visit of the weirdest family ever. The film debuted at Cannes and enters limited release April 2. Trailer below…

I love the little boy and girl at 1:05 — their faces say “Yes, Suzette, we are starting to think like you. It is really happening!”

What do you think, P-Dubs — worth a “trip”?
