Whether you’re coming to this one late or wary of all the raves and Oscar hype that swirled around Carey Mulligan, you’ll be blown away by her tender, nuanced performance in An Education. She’s terrific. As a wide-eyed ’60s teen who dreams of a dizzy, sophisticated world of jazz and cocktails beyond her claustrophobic, middleclass London upbringing, she never stands a chance with a charmer like Sarsgaard’s too-good-to- be-true hustler. The EXTRAS include a bunch of deleted scenes and a snoozy commentary from the director and the film’s two leads. B+
