Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke is trading vampires for a big bad wolf as she readies herself for the adaptation of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale Little Red Riding Hood. Warner Bros. confirmed to that it has greenlit a gothic adaption of the classic fairy tale now titled The Girl with the Red Riding Hood. Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way Films will produce and shooting is scheduled to begin in June.

If all goes as planned, Amanda Seyfried (Mamma Mia) will play Valerie, the famous title character. The actress is still only in talks for the role and does not yet have a deal. If the part does go to her, she’ll play a girl who tries to uncover the true identity of the wolf that’s been terrorizing her village for the  two decades. She must also resolve her feelings for her wealthy fiance and the town’s bad boy. Says Hardwicke, “It’s a dense, romantic thriller. As the mystery unfolds, she becomes less and less certain about her feelings and about who she can trust.”
