Elliott Yamin, in Chile during massive earthquake, shares experience via Twitter

Elliott Yamin, third-place finisher on season 5 of American Idol, has been sending messages via Twitter from Chile, which was hit with an 8.8 magnitude earthquake early Saturday. Yamin is in Chile for the Vina del mar International Song Festival. On Yamin’s Twitter page, this message popped up after the quake: “I just escaped w my life,from an 8.3 earthquake!!!…is everybody ok?…where was the epicener?” followed up an hour later by “Hey everybody…we r totally safe and sound 4 the time being…I’m finally calmer,and dawn is approaching,which will help!..thx 4 ur prayers.” News organizations have been following his subsequent tweets, and he has since phoned in to CNN to talk about his experience:
