Allison Iraheta, fourth-place finisher from season 8 of American Idol, will perform her new single “Scars” during the show’s Thursday-night telecast (8 p.m. ET on Fox). A live performance by the red-headed rocker should provide momentary respite for the four season 9 semifinalists (two men, two women) who’ll get the boot during the course of the hour-long telecast. “Scars,” written by Toby Gad and Alyssa James, and produced by Gad, is a ballad from Iraheta’s 2009 debut Just Like You; a rep from 19 Entertainment confirms “Scars” will be the followup single to “Friday I’ll Be Over U.”

As previously announced, Thursday’s episode of Idol will also feature season 8 champ Kris Allen performing and sharing footage of his recent trip to Haiti to raise awareness and funds that will benefit the UN Foundation’s work in the earthquake-ravaged country; that organization is one recipient of this year’s “Idol Gives Back” campaign. Thursday’s telecast will encourage viewers to donate money online and via text-message.
