The Meccano Toy Company, maker of the Erector Set, has signed a licensing deal to make a 3-D movie based on their hundred-year-old toy. Meccano inked a deal with indie film company Helix Films, which is now currently developing an original script with hopes of turning the toy into a film franchise. An Erector Set, first sold in the US in 1913, was originally conceived as a model toy construction system by British inventor Frank Hornby. Today, Erector Set toys are sold in more than 80 countries.
