'The Lost Symbol' movie adaptation in the works

According to Variety, studio Columbia Pictures has hired Oscar nominated screenwriter Steven Knight (Dirty Pretty Things) to pen the big-screen adaptation of The Lost Symbol, the latest bestseller from author Dan Brown (The Da Vinci Code). Also on board are mega-producers Brian Grazer and John Calley, who helped bring The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons to theaters. Tom Hanks, who starred in both previous pics, is also expected to sign onto the project, though a deal has yet to be reached.
