Zach Galifianakis is set to host SNL on March 6, according to the Twitter stream maintained on his behalf. NBC would neither confirm nor deny a hosting schedule this far in advance, they said, and a rep for Galifianakis claimed that the Twitter feed isn’t official, even though it’s linked from his website, and mentioned in his newsletter.

Anyway, all together now: “Hell, yes!” if it’s true. Indeed our own Annie Barrett wished for this exact host mere months ago. Galifianakis is hilarious, and anyone who’s seen him live knows he can play the piano and sing, too.

I’m hoping Galifianakis gets to play an ’80s movie villain, or a gutsy hero, or a flummoxed regular dude — you know, the stuff he doesn’t play in movies. What do you want to see him do on SNL, PopWatchers?
