Groundhog Day Eve alert: Punxsutawney Phil hits Twitter

With Oscar nominations coming on Tuesday morning, our good friend Punxsutawney Phil could get lost in the shuffle. It’s a good thing he’s gone high-tech this year –You can get his prognostication via text (text “Groundhog” to 247365) or you can watch him (starting at the scary hour of 3 a.m. ET) at this webcam. The hip ‘hog is also on Twitter, of course.

I learned all this (and sent a too-cute ecard) at the official website of the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club. Who knew that Punxsutawney Phil was named after King Phillip? You can also find out about those dudes wearing tophats.
