Ayla Brown: Watch the new video from the 'American Idol' alum whose dad just got elected to the Senate

It’s been a big couple of weeks for the Brown family of Massachusetts. First, Republican politician Scott Brown got elected to the late Edward M. Kennedy’s U.S. Senate seat on Jan. 19; then, this Tuesday, Scott’s singer daughter Ayla Brown released a new EP, Circles. You might remember Ayla, 21, from season five of American Idol, where she made it all the way to the Top 16 before being eliminated. She currently plays basketball for Boston College, where she’s a senior, in addition to trying to get her music career off the ground.

Circles features five peppy pop tracks — nothing that rises above “generically competent,” I’m sorry to say, but you might disagree.
