The House of the Devil

The House of the Devil is a horror flick that would’ve been right at home on a drive-in marquee alongside The Slumber Party Massacre circa 1982. Made to look and feel like a Reagan-era chiller (yes, that’s the Fixx on our heroine’s Walkman), writer-director Ti West’s atmospheric cheapie revolves around a pretty coed (Donahue) who babysits for the wrong couple. The middle of the film gets a tad slow, but the final reel’s a honey. EXTRAS include a few unremarkable outtakes and two so-so making-of docs. B
