This is one guidebook you won’t find in a fanny pack next to the wet wipes. Not for Tourists cofounders Rob Tallia and Jane Pirone released their first guide (New York City) in 2000 as a practical companion for residents and ”serious travelers.” A decade later, 12 cities have NFT books, all written by locals — and not one targets the stereotypical tourist who ”goes to Paris and eats at McDonald’s,” says Tallia. So does the duo really hate crowds, or what? ”We’ve lived in New York for 19 years,” says Pirone, ”and we still haven’t visited the Statue of Liberty.”
