Ratings: CBS wins the night, ABC comedies return with a bang
CBS may have won the evening with the celeb prank show I Get That a Lot and the 36th Annual People’s Choice Awards, but third-place ABC also has reason to celebrate. Modern Family scored its highest ratings in both total viewers and adults 18-49 since its premiere. It was the night’s top show among the latter, coveted demo. Cougar Town posted its highest numbers since mid-October, while the 8:30 p.m. episode of The Middle managed a series high in 18-49. Even though Ugly Betty, debuting in its new non-Friday time slot, couldn’t quite defeat Jay Leno, it did hit season highs in both 18-49 and total viewers.
