Social network Flixster buys movie rating site Rotten Tomatoes

Movie social networking site Flixster has acquired the movie rating site Rotten Tomatoes from IGN Entertainment, Dow Jones Newswires report. The two sites will still be available as separate entities, but their combined reach will total 30 million visitors. Their merged databases will include 250,000 movies, 2.3 billion user-generated reviews, half a million critic reviews, and more than 20,000 trailers and video clips.
