Rumors had circulated overnight that singer Vic Chesnutt had passed away, but Don Wilkie, head of his label Constellation Records, sent an email to EW on Christmas Day morning saying, “There is no truth [to the rumors.] There is no change in Vic’s condition. He remains alive, contrary to what is being reported.” As reported on Christmas Eve, Chesnutt is in a coma following an alleged suicide attempt. EW will report if there are any changes to his condition.

UPDATE: Chesnutt’s label announced later in the day that the singer-songwriter died at 2:59 P.M. on Dec. 25, several hours after this post was first published.
