Jennifer Jones, an Academy Award winner for her starring role in 1943’s The Song of Bernadette, died Thursday at her home in Malibu. She was 90. Jones was married for 16 years to movie mogul David O. Selznick who cast her in many of his own movies as well as those of others around Hollywood. Her last film was 1974’s The Towering Inferno opposite Steve McQueen and Paul Newman. She appeared in 22 films over a career that spanned 35 years. Her other Oscar noms were for roles in Since You Went Away, Love Letters, Duel in the Sun, and Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing. She is survived by her son Robert Walker, stepson Donald Simon, eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
