Roman Polanski out on bail, transferred from Swiss jail to private ski chalet
Earlier today, Roman Polanski was transferred from a Swiss jail cell to his personal ski chalet in Gstaad, Switzerland, where he was joined by his wife, French actress Emmanuelle Seigner, and their two young children. Under the terms of his house arrest, the 76-year-old director must wear an electronic ankle bracelet and remain on the property while the Swiss government decides whether to extradite him to the United States for sentencing in a sex-crime case from 32 years ago. He will be able to receive guests, hold parties, and work on his movies as he pleases.
According to the AP, should Polanski break these conditions for his release, the Swiss government will confiscate the $4.5 million he deposited as bail. Swiss authorities are expected to make a decision regarding the extradition within the coming weeks.
