According to Variety, writer-director Paul Thomas Anderson (There Will Be Blood) has attached Philip Seymour Hoffman to star in his next film, a period piece about organized religion. Anderson is still working on the script of the drama, which centers around “The Master” (to be played by Hoffman), the founder of a faith-based organization in the early 1950s. Anderson and Hoffman have previously collaborated on Boogie Nights, Hard Eight, Punch-Drunk Love, and Magnolia.
