G.E. and Vivendi reach deal on NBC Universal
General Electric has reached a tentative deal to buy the French firm Vivendi’s 20 per cent stake in NBC Universal for roughly $5.8 billion, according to The New York Times. The G.E.-Vivendi deal is regarded as a critical step towards the long-discussed sale of the film and television company to Internet and cable provider Comcast. G.E. has owned NBC for more than 20 years.
