Phantom of the Opera composer Andrew Lloyd Webber has been readmitted to a London hospital following a prior operation for prostate cancer, according to a statement posted Tuesday on his website. “He has been advised that while the operation was entirely successful, he has developed a post-operative ‘chronic infection’ which needs immediate treatment,” says the statement. “He still hopes to be back at work in the New Year.” The 61-year-old composer announced last month that he had been diagnosed with cancer. Lloyd Webber’s new musical Love Never Dies — a sequel to Phantom — is scheduled to begin previews Feb. 20 in London.
