Steven Tyler and Joe Perry offer conflicting reports about the band's future

Is he in or is he out? Steven Tyler recently set off a storm of speculation when he seemed to suggest he was ditching Aerosmith after nearly 40 years to focus on ”Brand Tyler.” Guitarist Joe Perry fired back on Twitter, saying the band is ”positivly [sic] looking for a new singer.” Things got even more confusing Nov. 9, when Tyler offered this semi-denial at a red-carpet event: ”Does it look like I’m leaving Aerosmith?” Frankly, Steven, we’re not sure. (Reps for the band did not respond to calls.) Could Aerosmith really rock on without him? ”You’re trying to replace an icon,” says Chris Vandahl — who, as lead singer of tribute act Aeromyth, knows plenty about subbing for Tyler. ”You’re talking about attempting to fill some of the biggest, most well-worn-in shoes in rock & roll.” Besides, replicating that hairstyle? Impossible!
